Össur SmartSling^® brace

Suits: rotator cuff and other shoulder repairs, dislocations and unstable shoulders

A 3-in-1 shoulder sling that sits close to the body and looks neat, so it is comfortable to keep wearing. It is used for:

• Holding the shoulder still after a rotator cuff repair (the muscles and tendons around the shoulder joint)
• A shoulder that has come out of its socket, fully or partly (a dislocation or subluxation)
• Bankart repairs (an operation to repair the rim of the shoulder socket after a dislocation)
• Repairs and strains of the muscles, tendons and ligaments
• Capsular shifts (an operation to tighten the shoulder joint), and unstable or injured shoulders

A soft chamois pad at the neck shapes itself to you, the thumb loop can be moved, and the straps can be trimmed without fraying. A pillow under the arm spreads its weight and takes pressure off the ulnar nerve, which runs down the inside of the arm. Quick-release buckles make it easy to put on and take off, and the mesh fabric breathes, with moulded foam padding that supports better than fabric and leaves no seam underneath.

Suits: recovery after an elbow operation or injury

A hinged brace for the elbow after an operation (post-op) or an injury. Its hinge is easy to set and controls how far the elbow can bend and straighten.

The side bars slide to your size and the aluminium cuffs can be shaped to your arm, so it fits closely. Silicone padding on the straps stops it slipping, the padding and Lycra lining keep it comfortable, and there is a comfort pad for the neck and shoulder.

Suits: tennis elbow and other tendonitis of the elbow

A strap for tendonitis of the elbow and for epicondylitis (tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow: pain where the forearm muscles attach at the elbow). It can also be worn to help prevent it, at work, in daily life and in sport.

The strap adjusts, and its curved shape presses in just the right place.

An elbow support with an air cushion that presses on one spot and gently cushions the sore area. It is used for:

• Golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis, on the inner side of the elbow)
• Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis, on the outer side of the elbow)

Össur Exoform^® Carpal Tunnel Wrist

Suits: carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis in the wrist

A wrist brace for carpal tunnel syndrome (pressure on a nerve at the wrist, which causes tingling and numbness in the hand) and tendonitis. Your fingers can still bend fully at the knuckles.

It is shaped to the wrist, with room for the bony bumps on either side of it. It is slim, and it can be shaped beforehand to hold the wrist straight, so it limits movement comfortably.

A wrist brace for bursitis (a swollen, fluid-filled cushion near a joint), healing after a cast comes off, tendonitis, injuries to the muscles, tendons and ligaments (soft tissue injuries), and arthritis.

The padding is thicker in some places and thinner in others, for comfort and fit, and the Lycra lining breathes well. It is shaped along the crease of the palm, so your fingers can bend fully at the knuckles. The stay in the palm can be adjusted or taken out, and the brace is available with gel pads for hot and cold therapy.

Suits: sprains, strains, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and healing after a cast

A laced wrist brace for mild to moderate sprains and strains, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and other injuries from doing the same movement over and over (repetitive strain injuries), and for healing after a cast.

It laces up with one pull, and the stay in the palm can be adjusted to fine-tune the support.

Contoured wrist and forearm brace

Suits: sprains, strains and arthritis in the wrist

A brace for sprains, strains and arthritis. It fastens with Velcro straps that lock closed, fits comfortably and gives good support. It stops just below the crease of the palm, so your fingers can bend fully at the knuckles.

Suits: gamekeeper’s thumb, De Quervain’s tendonitis, some scaphoid injuries and healing after a cast

A brace that wraps around the thumb and wrist (which is what spica means), holds them still and protects them, and can be worn for a long time. It is used for:

• Gamekeeper’s thumb (a torn ligament at the base of the thumb)
• Healing after a cast comes off
• De Quervain’s tendonitis (painful tendons on the thumb side of the wrist)
• Soft tissue injuries
• Some injuries of the scaphoid (a small bone in the wrist)

The padding is thicker in some places and thinner in others, for comfort and fit. The stays on the thumb side and in the palm can be adjusted, so it fits you closely.

Össur Universal Thumb Splint

Suits: gamekeeper’s thumb, torn thumb ligaments and De Quervain’s tendonitis

A thumb splint for gamekeeper’s thumb, torn collateral ligaments (the ligaments on either side of a thumb joint) and De Quervain’s tendonitis.

It fastens with elastic Velcro straps and limits movement at the thumb’s knuckle and at its base, where it meets the wrist (the MP and CMC joints).
