Privacy Policy

Northcliff Orthopaedic Centre (G Ferreira Inc.) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect

When you send us an enquiry about a product. Your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), the product you are asking about and whatever you write in your enquiry.

When you use the website. Like every website, ours receives your device’s internet (IP) address. We use it for two things only: to stop the message form being flooded (each address can send three messages in an hour, and the count deletes itself after that), and in our hosting provider’s short-term security logs. We also count page visits to see which pages are useful. That count doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t record who you are.

Health information. Please don’t send detailed medical information through the website. If you’re a patient, we’ll collect what we need at your appointment, where it’s kept confidential as part of your patient record.

Why we use it

Only to answer your message, arrange an appointment if you ask for one, and keep the website working and secure. We never sell your information, and we don’t use it for marketing unless you ask us to.

Who we share it with

A few trusted service providers run parts of the website for us. They may only use your information to provide their service to us:

• Vercel hosts the website and provides the anonymous visit counts.
• Resend delivers messages from the form to our inbox.
• Upstash holds the short-lived count that limits how many messages can be sent.
• Google provides the map on our contact page, the “I’m not a robot” check on the enquiry form, and the YouTube videos on our upper limb page. Google may set its own cookies when you load the map or the check, or play a video. See Google’s privacy policy.

Some of these providers store information outside South Africa, mainly in the United States. We only use providers bound by data protection standards comparable to POPIA’s. By sending us a message, you agree to your information being handled this way.

Links to our Facebook and Instagram pages take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.

How long we keep it

We keep messages for as long as we need them to help you, or as long as the law requires us to keep records. After that we delete them.

How we protect it

The website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, the form is protected against spam and misuse, and access to your information is limited to the people at the practice who need it to help you.

Your rights

Under POPIA, you may ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you,
• correct it if it’s wrong,
• delete it, where we’re not required to keep it, and
• stop using it, if you object to how it’s used.
